Ravago Group has made its third acquisition of 2016, this time acquiring Industrial Resin Recycling Inc., a recycler and toll compounder based in Howell, Mich.
Arendonk, Belgium-based Ravago made the deal through its Ravago Holdings America Inc. unit, which is headquartered in Orlando, Fla. The acquisition expands RHA’s recycling platform by providing expanded regional service points in the Southeastern and upper Midwest parts of the United States, officials said in a news release. No purchase price was disclosed.
The deal also gives RHA greater access to feedstock for its portfolio of recycled resins, including Echo-brand recycled polypropylene and polyethylene, officials added, and further solidifies RHA’s position in the automotive sector.
“As we expand our commitment to recycling, we see this acquisition as a critical next step in our ability to offer customizable solutions to the market where we can manage the entirety of the recycling ecosystem including collection, conversion, and the sale of recycled resins,” RHA President and CEO Jim Duffy said in an Aug. 31 news release.
IRR was founded in 1995 and is focused on post-industrial plastics, including PVC, PE, polycarbonate and polypropylene. The firm has automotive approvals and supplies most auto plants in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, according to its website. In addition to Howell, IRR operates facilities in Fowlerville, Mich.; and Piedmont, Ala.
Earlier this year, Ravago acquired TH Hilson Co., a specialty chemicals distributor in Wheaton, Ill. Products distributed by Hilson include acrylics, polyurethane dispersions, epoxies, silicones, pigments, liquid colorants and a wide range of plastics additives.
Ravago also earlier this year became full owner of chemicals distributor Campi y Jove of Barcelona. That firm’s products include PU resins and composites and plastics additives. Ravago previously had owned half of Campi y Jove in a partnership with Dutch additives and ingredients supplier Barentz Europe NV.
Ravago employs 5,000 worldwide, distributing almost 9 billion pounds of resins and compounds to 40,000 customers. The firm also operates 30 manufacturing sites for recycling and compounding, as well as production of expanded polystyrene resin and finished products for the building and construction market.
North American operations for Ravago include resin distributors H. Muehlstein and Amco Polymers, as well as compounder Entec Polymers.
