Natural rubber production rose by 11 per cent to 52,000 tonnes during July, while imports fell marginally, according to data released by Rubber Board.
Production stood at 47,000 tonnes in the same month last year.
The consumption of natural rubber during July 2016 increased by 4.3 per cent to 87,000 tonnes, compared to 83,400 tonnes during July 2015.
Imports declined marginally to 41,157 tonnes in July this year from 41,917 tonnes in the year-ago period, while exports fell to 34 tonnes from 39 tonnes.
During April-July period of this fiscal, production of natural rubber increased by 4.5 per cent to 1.87 lakh tonnes from 1.79 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period, the data revealed.
The consumption of natural rubber rose by 5.4 per cent to 3,44,525 tonnes during the first four months of this fiscal from 3,26,935 tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year, the data showed.
Imports fell to 148,488 tonnes during April-July period of 2016-17 from 154,761 tonnes during the year-ago period.
Natural rubber stock at the end of July stood at 2.11 lakh tonnes.
Exports during April-July this fiscal rose to 267 tonnes from just 53 tonnes in the corresponding period of last fiscal.
