Albéa Group Albéa supplies a wide range of beauty and personal hygiene product packaging
Beauty packaging specialist Albéa Group is expanding its capacity in the production of laminate tubes with the acquisition of the Slovak packaging company Scandolara Tub-Est sro in Levice.
The Slovak firm, bought for an undisclosed sum, was targeted because of its key role serving European and worldwide brands, in particular in the oral care segment, according to Paris-based Albéa.
Scandolara Tub-Est was part of the Italian pharma, food, cosmetics and dental tube packaging group Scandolara SpA. headquartered in Garbagnate, near Milan. The group was one of few European companies offering a range of both plastics and metal tube containers.
Scandolara Tub-Est’s plant manufactures mainly toothpaste tubes. The company employs a workforce of 130 and 2015 sales of around 20 million euros ($ 22.4 million).
The acquisition will consolidate the leading European position of Albéa in tube packaging and take the number of units focusing on tube production around Europe to six. These are located in France, Germany, Poland, Russia and the United Kingdom.
“Together, Albéa and Levice will offer a unique combination of global reach and local presence, market valued product and process innovation, as well as technical expertise, operating performance and agility” explains François Luscan, Albéa’s president & CEO.
Since 2010, Albéa group has been owned by the U.S. private equity firm Sun Capital Partners. The group operates 38 plants in Asia, the Americas and Europe and had annual sales of 2.24 billion euros ($ 2.5 billion) last year.
Albéa supplies a wide range of beauty and personal hygiene product packaging including lipsticks, mascaras, foam pumps and plastic and laminate tubes.
Scandolara group has a production plant at Ascoli Piceno, with R&D laboratories and both plastics and aluminum tube manufacture along with component injection molding. It also runs the Swiss firm Tusa which produces aluminum tubes at Vevey Switzerland.
