In a statement today, it said the smallholding sector was the main contributor to the NR production, accounting for over 90 per cent.
It also said the average monthly price of latex concentrate and the Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 were 731.80 sen per kilogramme (kg) and 863.07 sen per kg, down by 8.3 per cent and 10.7 per cent respectively from February 2017.
March’s NR exports rose by 2.7 per cent to 59,520 tonnes compared to the previous month.
“The five main destinations of NR exports were China (51.7 per cent), Germany (14.4 per cent), Iran (4.4 per cent), Finland (3.9 per cent) and Turkey (2.8 per cent),” said DoS.
Meanwhile, domestic consumption of natural rubber increased by 15 per cent to 41,727 tonnes compared with February.
The rubber gloves industry remained the main domestic consumer of 70 per cent.
DoS said the level of NR stocks at end-March went up by 4.1 per cent to 256,692 tonnes from 246,498 tonnes in February.
