LONDON: Britain’s wheat exports picked up in August but were still far behind last season’s pace, customs data showed on Monday.
Exports in August totalled 55,613 tonnes, up from the previous month’s 16,259 tonnes.
Cumulative wheat exports from the start of the 2017/18 season until August, were 71,871 tonnes, down from 423,873 tonnes exported over the same period a year earlier.
The season runs from July to June
British wheat imports in August totalled 135,395 tonnes, down from the previous month’s 155,525 tonnes.
Cumulative wheat imports to August were higher at 290,921 tonnes, from 273,679 tonnes in the same period a year earlier.
