KOTTAYAM, JAN. 17:
Physical rubber prices showed a mixed mood on Thursday. The market continued to remain under pressure on buyer resistance, though there was no selling pressure from growers who preferred to hold the produce hesitating to sell at lower rates. The volumes were dull.
Sheet rubber closed steady at Rs 160.50 a kg, according to traders. The grade weakened to Rs 161 (161.50) a kg at Kottayam and Kochi as reported by the Rubber Board.
In futures, the February series closed at Rs 162.39 (161.69), March at Rs 164.75 (163.86), April at Rs 168.45 (167.73), May at Rs 170.20 (171.46) and June at Rs 173 (173) a kg on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) dropped to Rs 179.40 (180.21) a kg at Bangkok. The January futures slipped to ¥289.1 (Rs 175.90) from ¥289.4 a kg during the day session, but then bounced back to ¥293 (Rs 178.27) a kg in the night session on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 160.50 (160.50); RSS-5: 156 (156); ungraded: 149 (150); ISNR 20: 157 (157.50) and latex 60 per cent: 105.50 (106).
