YANGON, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — Myanmar business circle has proposed the government to open rubber sale centers in Mon state, a major rubber producer of the country, official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Saturday.
In accordance with the proposal by the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the rubber sale centers are outlined to be opened in Mawlamyine, Mudon, Thabyuzayat, Ye, Kyaikto, Thaton, Chaungzon, Paung and Bilin towns.
The organization also proposed the government to get tax exemption for the imported formic acid which is expensive and plays vital role for high-quality rubber production.
The authorities are drawing up a Rubber Law for the planned rubber central markets across the country in 2018, according to Myanmar Rubber Planters and Producers’ Association.
The country’s rubber is mainly produced in Mon state, Kayin state, Tanintharyi, Yangon and Bago regions.
There are about 648,000 hectares of rubber plantations and more than 283,500 hectares produce rubber latex in the country.
About 70 percent of the country’s rubber go to neighbouring China and the rest 30 percent go to Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
