HAMBURG: Taiwan’s feed industry procurement association MFIG purchased about 55,000 tonnes of corn to be sourced from the United States in an international tender on Wednesday, European traders said.
The corn was all bought at a premium of 133.50 US cents c&f over the Chicago July corn contract, traders said.
MFIG had sought shipment between April 5-24 if the corn is sourced from the US Gulf, they said. If sourced from the US Pacific North West coast or South Africa, shipment is sought between April 20 to May 9.
Seller was thought to be Columbia Grain.
US corn is currently competitively-priced in export markets and large supplies are available for sale, analysts say.
