HONG KONG: Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks tumbled Wednesday, in line with an Asia-wide sell-off on worries about sharp rises in US interest rates, while traders were also spooked by weak Chinese factory data.
The Hang Seng Index fell 1.36 percent, or 423.94 points, to end at 30,844.72.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.99 percent, or 32.66 points, to 3,259.41 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, added 0.16 percent, or 2.86 points, to 1,811.78.
