Germany’s BASF has increased the production of polyarylsulfone at its plant in Yeosu, South Korea, by 33% to 24,000 mt/year, the company said late Wednesday.
The 6,000 mt/year increase serves to benefit “customers in Asia with fast response and proximity,” BASF said, and “serve growing global demand for high performance thermoplastic in automotive, electronics and water filtration industries.”
Polyarylsulfone is widely used in the electronics, automotive and aerospace industries for the production of heat-resistant, lightweight components.
It is also used the production of carbon fiber composite materials.
