PARIS: Algeria’s state grain agency OAIC bought 420,000 tonnes of optional origin milling wheat for July shipment in a tender that closed on Thursday, European traders said on Friday.
OAIC paid the grain at around $224-$225 per tonne cost and freight included, they said.
There were five sellers and the origin of wheat was very likely French, they said.
Volumes in Algeria’s tenders are nominal and the country frequently purchases more than the volumes initially sought.
The country does not disclose the results of its tenders and purchase reports are based on trade assessments.
