Charlotte, NC – American Tire Distributors Holdings Inc. is expanding in Canada by buying Regional Tire Distributors Inc. of Ontario. The operation will be part of the Charlotte-based company’s Canadian subsidiary, TriCan Tire Distributors Inc. The transaction is expected to close in April. Terms were not disclosed.
American Tire entered the Canadian market in November by purchasing TriCan. The newest acquisition will expand American Tire’s operations in Ontario and the Atlantic provinces. American Tire expects to grow in Canada by adding distribution centers and through acquisitions. The company specializes in serving the replacement-tire market. It operates 123 distribution centers, including 15 in Canada, and serves 70,000 customers in North America. It has 3,500 employees, including 200 in Canada.
