Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company plans to restart its 620,000 mt/year styrene monomer plant at Zhenhai in eastern China’s Zhejiang province June 10, following planned maintenance, a source with knowledge of the matter said Friday.
The plant was taken offline April 21, in line with planned maintenance at its upstream naphtha-fed steam cracker over the same period, S&P Global Platts reported previously.
The company could not be reached for comment.
The cracker is able to produce 1 million mt/year of ethylene, 550,000 mt/year of propylene and 180,000 mt/year of butadiene.
Sinopec last lowered its ex-works styrene monomer offers in East China to Yuan 12,800/mt, or $1,690/mt CFR China on an import parity basis, Thursday, down Yuan 200/mt, market sources said.
The East China prompt SM marker was last assessed at Yuan 12,790/mt ex-tank Thursday.
