KOTTAYAM, APRIL 9:
Spot rubber improved on Tuesday. Supply concerns continued to drive the market sentiments despite a weak closing in domestic futures on the NMCE.
Covering purchases at lower levels and the absence of quantity sellers kept major counters on the higher side during closing hours. The trend was partially mixed.
Sheet rubber closed firm at Rs 165 (164) a kg, according to traders. The grade improved to Rs 164.50 (164) a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi as reported by the Rubber Board.
The April series slipped to Rs 161 (161.16), May to Rs 162.35 (163.15), June to Rs 161.75 (163.13) and July to Rs 161 (163.33) a kg while the August series improved to Rs 160.31 (159.54) on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) increased to Rs 154.07 (152.52) a kg at Bangkok. The April futures flared up further to ¥ 263.1 (Rs 145.17) from ¥256.8 during the day session but then dropped to ¥ 258.1 (Rs 142.39) in the night session on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange .
Spot rubber rates Rs/kg : RSS-4: 165 (164); RSS-5: 161.50 (161); Ungraded: 157 (156); ISNR 20: 153 (153) and Latex 60 per cent: 110 (110).
