KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Agriculture and Food Industries minister Junz Wong says smallholders are eligible for the state Government subsidy for raw rubber material.
The subsidy, he said, is to ensure that smallholders are paid fair prices for raw rubber in a bid to improve their livelihood.
He said the subsidy is given when the raw material is sold directly to the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS) or to licensed buyers.
Wong said that the licensed buyers must give the subsidy to the smallholders immediately upon collecting the material or risk having their licenses cancelled.
“The state government wants all farming smallholders to reap benefits from the subsidy, as it was implemented for the purpose of increasing the earnings of smallholders,” he said in a statement on Saturday (June 23).
The subsidy for each material is as follows: Latex (RM0.60/kg); Rubber Sheet Grade 1 (RM0.38/kg); Rubber Sheet Grade 2 (RM0.32/kg); Coagulated Rubber Grade 1 (RM0.36/kg) and Coagulated Rubber Grade 2 (RM0.30/kg).
