April 10 — Southeast Asian nations need to work together to help develop rubber industry, says Yuttapong Charasathien, Thailand’s deputy minister of agriculture and cooperatives, at Asean Plus 2013 Rubber Conference in Phuket today.
* Asean nations need to map out rubber development plan together with key importing countries in the region – China, Japan and India
* NOTE: Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, the top producers, meet today through April 12 in Phuket to discuss price support measures, including extending export reductions, Yuttapong said last month.
* NOTE: The three nations agreed to cut exports in the six months through March to boost prices.
* NOTE: Thailand said April 1 it will extend curbs on shipments by 60 days to the end of May.
