KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) — The Malaysian rubber prices closed lower Wednesday as traders remained on the sidelines as they await the outcome of the regional rubber seminar beginning today until April 12, dealers said.
The meeting, held in Phuket, was expected to discuss on ways to stabilise the rubber prices, a dealer said.
The meeting involves government representatives from three of the world’s largest rubber producers — Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
On the local front, the Malaysian Rubber Board’s official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 was down two sen to 788 sen a kg at noon, while latex-in-bulk added 0.5 sen to 595.5 sen a kg.
The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 lost one sen to 784.5 sen a kg while latex-in-bulk was unchanged from yesterday’s 595.5 sen a kg.
