KOTTAYAM, APRIL 10:
Rubber prices were steady on Wednesday. According to observers, there were no active buyers or sellers in the local scene to set a specific trend in the commodity.
Supply concerns continued to cast its shadow over the market but major consuming industries preferred to stay back keeping a very low profile. The volumes were dull.
Sheet rubber finished unchanged at Rs 165 a kg, according to traders. The grade was flat at Rs 164.50 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi, as reported by the Rubber Board.
RSS 4 improved at its April series to Rs 161.80 (160.93), May to Rs 163.81 (162.15), June to Rs 163.76 (161.62) July to Rs 162.94 (161.67) and August to Rs 160.50 (160.05) a kg on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) inched up to Rs 154.71 (154.07) a kg at Bangkok. The April futures slipped to ¥262.8 (Rs 144.11) from ¥263.1 a kg during the day session but then bounced back to ¥266.5 (Rs 146.14) in the night session on Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rubber rates Rs/kg: RSS-4: 165 (165); RSS-5: 161.50 (161.50); Ungraded: 157 (157); ISNR 20: 153 (153) and Latex 60 per cent: 109 (110).
