European Union soft wheat exports for July 1-8, the first reporting week of the July-June 2018/19 marketing season, totalled 209,000 tonnes, down from 230,000 tonnes in the same period last year, data published by the European Commission showed on Monday.
* For 2018/19, the Commission has changed its publication day for the weekly data to Mondays from Thursdays previously. The publication now covers volumes reported for Monday to Sunday the preceding week instead of Wednesday to Tuesday.
* As part of the schedule change, the Commission has revised comparative figures for the past two seasons to reflect the new weekly cycle.
* EU barley exports for July 1-8 came to just 538 tonnes compared with 217,000 tonnes a year ago.
* EU maize imports totalled 222,000 tonnes against 186,000 tonnes in the same period last year.
* For the 2017/18 season that ended on June 30, the Commission revised its figure for total EU soft wheat exports to 20.7 million tonnes from 20.3 million initially reported last week. That was now 14 percent below the 2016/17 volume of 24.0 million.
