London – Libya’s National Oil Corporation on Thursday said it has lifted the force majeure at the El-Feel field in the country’s southwest, with production to ramp up to 50,000 b/d within two days and 72,000 b/d within five.
The field, which has a capacity of 90,000 b/d, has been shut in since late February due to protests by local tribes and guards.
In a statement, NOC said it had settled disputes involving pay and benefits with the local Petroleum Facilities Guard, which were allowed “an unconditional return” to their previous locations.
“Bringing El Feel back online will help us swiftly return to maximum production levels,” NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanalla said.
The field is operated by Mellitah Oil and Gas Company, a joint venture between NOC and Italy’s Eni.
