NEW YORK: The Nasdaq finished decisively higher on Thursday as Tesla shares enjoyed huge gains following earnings and Apple became the first private company to hit $1 trillion in market value.
The tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index led the major indices, rising 1.3 percent at the closing bell to 7,803.99.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped less than 0.1 percent to 25,327.78, while the broad-based S&P 500 rose 0.5 percent to 2,827.34.
