Cambodia’s Rubber exports + 12%, revenues off 27% in 1st 9 months of Y 2012
Cambodia Monday reported a 12% rise in rubber latex exports in the first nine months of this year; however, revenues from the exports went down by 27% due to declining rubber prices in the international market.
The country exported 39,360 tons of rubber latex during January- September period this year, up 12% from 35,080 tons at the same period last year, a report from the Ministry of Commerce showed.
Revenues from the exports were US$116-M, down 27% from US$160-M, the report added.
According to International Rubber Price, the best quality rubber latex is sold at US$3,038 a ton Monday, down 20% compared with US$3,810 a ton at this time last year.
Cambodia’s rubber has been exported to Malaysia, Vietnam and China.
To date, the country has about 213,100 hectares of rubber plantations, most of them are too young to be yielded, according to a report from the Agriculture Ministry.
