HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks surged in the morning Monday, tracking a jump of more than four percent in Shanghai after officials unveiled tax-cut plans and President Xi Jinping added his voice to a coordinated effort to support China’s markets.
The Hang Seng Index jumped 2.40 percent, or 612.58 points, to 26,173.98 by the break.
Shanghai’s composite index piled on 4.17 percent, or 106.40 points, to 2,656.87.
