NEW DELHI – Ex-mill prices of sugar fell in all key wholesale markets across the country ahead of announcement of October sales quota by the government due later today.
* “It is the last day of the month, so there is selling pressure on mills… Quota is also expected to be higher,” said Naresh Gupta, a Delhi-based dealer.
* Following are the highlights of sugar trade in the domestic market today:
(Changes in price per 100 kg)
–Down 10 rupees at 3,630 rupees in Muzaffarnagar
–Down 15 rupees at 3,610 rupees in Delhi
–Down 10 rupees at 3,560 rupees in Kolhapur
–Down 15 rupees at 3,767 rupees in Mumbai
* On the Intercontinental Exchange, the most active March contract of raw sugar was flat as the market focused on the expiry of the October contract later today.
* The March contract traded at 19.73 cents per pound. End
