Tyre excels among illustrious premium and leading mid-market brand representation
Giti Tire has warmly welcomed the result of the new 2021 Auto Motor und Sport (AM&S) winter tyre test in which theGT Radial Winterpro2 tyre received a ‘good’ classification.
For the test AM&S selects just ten brands, and among the illustrious premium and leading mid-market brand representation, the tyre proved to be a well-rounded product scoring well in all tests, with especially good results in braking on dry, wet and snowy surfaces.
The magazine also praised the tyre for ‘its comfortable ride properties [and] a firm and good grip on both wet and dry roads’.
Initially launched in 2017, the GT Radial Winterpro2 had been subject to independent tests by Dekra which confirmed a big increase in wet performance while maintaining excellent snow execution against its previous incarnation, GT Radial Winterpro and four main competitors.
The tests, which were conducted in Rovaniemi (Finland) and Fontange (France), confirmed that the HP tyre was up to 10% better on wet braking exercises and 2% ahead in wet handling.
The tyre was designed and engineered at Giti Tire’s European Research & Development Centre in Hannover, Germany.
Fabio Pecci-Boriani, Senior Product Manager PCR, SUV, Light Truck for Giti Tire (Europe), said: “To be right there among some of the most illustrious winter tyres being produced, and beating many premium brands across several individual tests, gives us many reasons to be proud of the GT Radial Winterpro2.
“Across all areas we performed well, and to achieve a podium finish in dry braking and handling is nothing short of sensational.
“The market clearly understands that once temperatures dip below seven degrees Celsius drivers need a tyre that will retain its rubber elasticity which delivers a firm grip and solid braking on dry, wet and occasionally icy and snowy surfaces, the GT Radial Winterpro2 delivers.”
The GT Radial WinterPro2 is aimed at compact and medium cars and smaller SUVs. It is available in 44 unique sizes with rims ranging from 13 to 17” across speed indices T H and V, section widths from 155 to 245 and series sizes from 80 to 50.
A complex tread comprising different compounds in defined areas delivers a rigid structure which results in optimal adhesion on various surfaces at low temperatures.
The adapted density of nylon cap ply ensures a perfect pressure distribution in the contact area for maximum grip and driving stability.
