TOKYO—The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.’s U.S. subsidiary YH America Inc. will begin production of automotive air conditioning hoses in Mexico.
The company plans to begin delivery of the hoses to a Japanese car make in Mexico in the summer of 2014. It also plans to use the production to expand transactions with Japanese and U.S. car makers.
The production will be located in the suburbs of Aguascalientes. The company said it will not build its own plant, rather consign assembly to a local company.
Headquartered in Kentucky, YHAI assembles and sells automotive air conditioning and power steering hoses and produces automotive windshield sealants. The subsidiary said it is the No. 1 supplier of automotive power steering hoses in the U.S, with sales to the U.S. Big Three as well as to Japanese auto makers.
YHAI has automotive hose and metal fitting assembly plants in Kentucky and South Carolina.
