The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries has decided to republish the data provided by member governments but will no longer add value by making forecasts or estimates.
As part of these changes, ANRPC has revised downward by 50,000 tons the output of NR by Malaysia, to 950,000 metric tons. Vietnam has increased its projections, to 955,000 tons, which takes Vietnam into third position in the world (marginally ahead of Malaysia) for 2012. India is coming up close behind with an estimated production in 2012 of 920,000 tons.
Sri Lanka and Cambodia also reduced their provisional production to 151,330 tons and 67,500 tons respectively.
ANRPC said Malaysia has revised the country’s exports down from 1.315 million tons to 1.270 million tons taking into consideration the International Tripartite Rubber Council’s decision on implementation of agreed exports reduction.
Meanwhile, Vietnam has increased its total volume of exports to 988,000 tons, a result from an upward revision of the country’s production to 955,000 tons in 2012.
ANRPC said despite the exports cut implemented by ITRC members in Q4 2012, the imports during the year 2012 have increased tremendously to 11.9 percent growth as compared to 8.9 percent reported in last issue attributed to the high growth in Q2 and Q3 2012. The further increase is a result from the upward revision by China, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
