Leading tyre manufacturer Yokohama, widely regarded for its range of high-performance tyres, has strengthened its support of grassroots motorsport by becoming the single tyre supplier for the popular Scottish Fiesta ST Cup.
Yokohama has previously been a tyre supplier to the championship which had more than 20 drivers competing in 2024, and it was their choice that sees the premium tyre brand make an eagerly anticipated return in a multiple year arrangement.
The new deal will see Yokohama’s ADVAN A050 tyre see action at Knockhill, plus at the away round, in the championship which attracts a diverse field of female and male drivers, plus seasoned veterans and newcomers alike.
In fact, the youngest driver competing in 2024 was a mere 16-years-old, while the oldest competitor was a spritely 71 years of age.
Simon Clarke, motorsport tyre technician at Yokohama, said: “Yokohama’s commitment to grassroots motorsport is further increased with this latest deal to be the single tyre supplier to the Scottish Fiesta ST Cup.
“It’s especially pleasing to know that the drivers wanted Yokohama to be the new tyre supplier.
“The championship is hard-fought with lots of close racing, and the ADVAN A050 with its superior levels of cornering, braking and traction will be perfectly at home on the track.”
The Scottish Fiesta ST Cup 2025 will be held over 12 rounds at six events with the action starting on 6th April, and with the away round taking place at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, in June. The size of ADVAN A050 being used for the championship is 195/50R15.
Becky Smith, championship representative for the Scottish Fiesta ST drivers, said: “We’re delighted that Yokohama is making a welcome return and will be our new single tyre supplier going forward.
“Fiesta racing has been a mainstay of Scottish motorsport for over 20 years, beginning with the XR2 model, and has helped launch the careers of some of Scotland’s top racing drivers including Gordon Shedden, Aiden Moffat and Rory Butcher. Who knows, Yokohama could help unearth the next generation of homegrown racing talent.”
The ADVAN A050, renowned for its handling performance, offers quicker lap times with round edge-shaped grooves, optimised profile and groove distribution, and a large centre block.
Clarke, from Yokohama, added: “The ADVAN A050 is the tyre of choice for countless race drivers who appreciate its exceptional handling and grip, and we eagerly await to see it in action in the Scottish Fiesta ST Cup.”
