The Vredestein Ultrac Pro ultra-ultra-high–performance (UUHP) summer tyre, which is manufactured in Europe by Apollo Tyres Ltd, has received the prestigious ‘Best Buy’accolade in a new assessment of summer tyres by Testaankoop, a leading Belgian consumer rights and product review organisation. The Ultrac Pro scored four out of five stars following a rigorous test process, in particular impressing the review team with its strong performance in driving safety and overall handling.
Testaankoop evaluated 10 summer tyres (size 225/40 R18) at a dedicated test facility in the Netherlands. Through a mix of lab and test track analysis, specialists assessed dry road stability, wet braking, aquaplaning and handling, as well as fuel consumption, wear and noise levels.
The Vredestein Ultrac Pro excelled on dry surfaces, offering precise, responsive steering feedback. The tyre’s high levels of stability and grip during evasive manoeuvres gave a secure and confident driving experience, even at elevated operating temperatures. Additionally, the Ultrac Pro received a ‘very good’ rating for its short braking distance in the dry from 100 km/h, achieving a four-and-a-half-star score in the category.
The Ultrac Pro also performed well in Testaankoop’s tests in wet conditions, achieving a‘good’ rating and four stars for its braking capabilities, while maintaining strong grip and manoeuvrability over slippery surfaces. Its resistance to longitudinal aquaplaning further reinforced its rankings in wet conditions.
Furthermore, the Vredestein tyre demonstrated positive results for wear and fuel efficiency, making it a desirable option for those drivers seeking durability and cost-effectiveness in a high-performance tyre.
Launched last spring, the Vredestein Ultrac Pro stands apart in a highly competitive UUHP segment by delivering an unrivalled combination of performance and comfort. Strong demand has prompted the introduction this spring of 54 new size options, ensuring compatibility with an even wider range of performance-focused vehicles. The new size options are suitable for wheel rims from 18 to 22 inches. Existing Ultrac Pro options are suitable for wheel rims as large as 24 inches in diameter.
The Ultrac Pro features a unique asymmetrical sidewall design, specially created by the renowned Italian design, engineering and prototyping company, Italdesign. The unique look is inspired by the visual signature of chronometers and other quality timepieces, with the overall theme of passing time referencing the tyre’s performance focus.
Compared to the previous generation of Vredestein UUHP tyres and established products in the category, there are significant differences in the layout of materials within the structure of the tyre. This is particularly evident in the bead area and lower sidewall area close to the rim, which have been completely rethought. The resulting design makes the tyre stable at high speeds and during aggressive cornering, while at the same time offering a smooth ride over rutted surfaces.
In addition, the tyre tread incorporates an all-new, highly advanced new-generation compound produced by a smart mixing process using state-of-the-art polymers, fillers and performance resins to guarantee wet and dry grip in a wide range of temperatures.
