KOTTAYAM, AUG. 28:
Spot rubber prices finished unchanged on Wednesday. According to observers, there were no active buyers or sellers as the market remained in a holiday mood owing to Janmashtami. Meanwhile, depreciation of the rupee has made imports more expensive and prices are expected to strengthen further in the domestic market.
Sheet rubber was quoted steady at Rs 184.50 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi, as reported by traders and the Rubber Board. The transactions continued to be low despite a firm closing in futures.
RSS 4 improved sharply with September futures rising o Rs 183.51 (Rs 179.28), October to Rs 182.19 (Rs 175.98), November to Rs 179(Rs 172.87) and December to Rs 178.50 (Rs 173.45) a kg on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) flared up to Rs 174.09 (Rs 170.32) a kg at Bangkok. The September futures for the grade dropped to ¥ 265.0 (Rs 185.94) from ¥ 265.9 per kg in the day session and then to ¥ 260.0 (Rs 182.38) per kg in the night session on Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rubber rates (Rs/kg) were: RSS-4: 184.50 (184.50); RSS-5: 181(181); Ungraded: 174(174); ISNR 20: 167(167) and latex 60%: 152(152).
