KOTTAYAM, SEPT.23:
Domestic rubber prices declined on Monday.
In the spot market, sheet rubber surrendered on buyer resistance following heavy losses on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
There was no significant improvement in arrivals, even at the village markets. News on higher imports and the absence of genuine buyers, continued to caste shadows over the local sentiments.
Sheet rubber weakened to Rs 180 (Rs 183) a kg, according to traders. The grade dropped to Rs 181 (Rs 183) at Kottayam and Kochi, according to the Rubber Board. The trend was partially mixed, as latex improved further on sustained demand amidst low supplies.
October futures declined to Rs 176.30 (Rs 179.08), November to Rs 176.27 (Rs 178.74), December to Rs 178.39 (Rs 180.47) and January to Rs 179.50 (Rs 183.50) while, the February futures remained inactive on the National Multi Commodity Exchange. RSS 3 (spot) closed at Rs 166.10 (Rs 166.05) at Bangkok. The Tokyo Commodity Exchange remained closed on account of ‘Autumnal Equinox Day’.
Spot rubber rates Rs/kg were: RSS-4: 180 (183); RSS-5: 175 (179); Ungraded: 170 (173); ISNR 20: 169 (170) and Latex 60%: 141 (138.50).
