KOTTAYAM, OCT,11:
Physical rubber prices were mixed on Friday. October contracts gained marginally in the domestic futures market, possibly on short covering at lower levels prior to the weekend session and the absence of genuine sellers. However, the other active counters dropped on buyer resistance.
Sheet rubber finished unchanged at Rs 166 a kg, as quoted by the traders. The grade weakened further to Rs 166 (Rs 166.50) at Kottayam and Kochi, according to the Rubber Board.
October futures improved to Rs 165 (Rs 164.63), November to Rs 166.65 (Rs 165.87), December to Rs 168.55 (Rs 167.92) and January to Rs 170.40 (Rs 170.15) while the February futures weakened to Rs 170.76 (Rs 173.36) on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) firmed up to Rs 157.34 (Rs 156.66) at Bangkok. October futures closed at ¥ 249.0 (Rs 154.65) on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rubber rates Rs/kg were: RSS-4: 166 (166); RSS-5: 159 (160); Ungraded: 155 (156); ISNR 20: 157 (157) and Latex 60%: 127 (127).
