KOTTAYAM, OCT. 29:
Spot rubber closed unchanged on Tuesday. The undercurrent was weak but prices managed to sustain, at the prevailing levels on short supplies. Meanwhile, local trading houses will remain closed at Kottayam on Wednesday, owing to a ‘rubber hartal’ in protest against the recent price fall.
Sheet rubber closed steady at Rs 158.50 a kg according to trading circles. The grade was quoted unchanged at Rs 159 and Rs 156 respectively, as reported by the Rubber Board and dealers. The trend was partially mixed as latex lost further on low demand. November futures improved to Rs 160.92 (Rs 159.97), December to Rs 162.80 (Rs 161.46) and January to Rs 164.80 (Rs 163.40) while the February and March contracts remained inactive, on the National Multi Commodity Exchange. RSS 3 (spot) slipped Rs 155.17 (Rs 155.23) at Bangkok. November futures closed at ¥ 248.0 (Rs 155.75) on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rubber rates Rs/kg were: RSS-4: 158.50 (158.50); RSS-5: 151 (151); Ungraded: 146 (146); ISNR 20: 150 (150) and Latex 60%: 116.50 (117).
