Taking part in the world’s biggest rally raid is not for the faint-hearted and only the best will do – in terms of the teams and their equipment.
Dutch duo, Tim and Tom Coronel, who are the drivers/navigators of Team Coronel Dakar Maxxis, are devotees of both the Dakar rally and Maxxis tyres, having participated using Maxxis tyres since 2011, and they are keen to get to the 2022 start line. Their choice of tyres means they start as they mean to go on; a top team using world-class tyres.
To add to the excitement the team has a new vehicle – a Century CR6 which is a two-wheel drive buggy with a 7.0 Chevrolet V8 engine, built specifically for rally raids, to enhance their performance.
The competition is open to motorcycles, quads, cars, trucks and now there is also a new Side by Side category and the vehicles can be “Factory cars” entered by constructors, or custom built in the competitors own garage, making this one of the most diverse motorised challenges going!
The daily special stages add to the variety of this phenomenal event which is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges most competitors will ever face.
