KOTTAYAM, NOV.13:
Spot rubber prices improved on Wednesday. Reports of intensified rains and absence of sellers kept prices firmduring a major part of the day. But the gains were limited following a weak closing in futures, possibly on profit booking ahead of the expiry of September contracts on Thursday. The trend was mixed as ISNR 20 and latex finished flat on slack demand.
Sheet rubber improved to Rs 158 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 157.50 and Rs 157 respectively, according to traders and the Rubber Board. The grade firmed up to Rs 155 (Rs 154), as quoted by the dealers.
November futures declined to Rs 157.50 (Rs 160.59), December to Rs 160.15 (Rs 161.24) and January to Rs 162.25 (Rs 163.32) for RSS 4, while February and March futures were inactive on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) closed marginally higher at Rs 158.71 (Rs 158.08) at Bangkok. November futures closed at ¥ 248.5 (Rs 158.40) on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rubber rates Rs/kg: RSS-4: 158 (157.50); RSS-5: 149.50 (149); Ungraded: 145 (144.50); ISNR 20: 149 (149); and Latex 60%: 106 (106).
