KOTTAYAM, DEC.2:
Rubber prices improved on Monday as the local market firmed up following overall gains in the domestic and international futures.
According to sources, sellers stayed away on rumours that the Government will take some positive measurers to enhance prices. The trend was mixed.
Sheet rubber increased to Rs 154 (153) a kg, according to traders. The grade finished firm at Rs 153.50 (Rs 152.50) and Rs 150.50 (Rs 149.50) respectively, as reported by the Rubber Board and dealers.
December futures firmed up to Rs 156.15 (Rs 154.82), January to Rs 158.19 (Rs 157.03) and February to Rs 160.65 (Rs 159.78) while the March and April futures remained inactive on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) flared up to Rs 158.31 (Rs 155) at Bangkok. December futures closed at ¥266.7 (Rs 161.54) on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rubber rates Rs/kg were: RSS-4: 154 (153); RSS-5: 144 (143); Ungraded: 140 (140); ISNR 20: 144.50 (144.50) and Latex 60%: 106 (105).
