KOTTAYAM, DEC.10:
The local rubber market continued to show a mixed mood on Tuesday. The most active counters RSS 4 and ungraded improved marginally amidst scattered transactions while the remaining grades were steady and almost inactive. Marginal recovery in domestic futures catalysed the sentiments partially but the absence of genuine buyers kept the commodity under pressure during closing hours. Sheet rubber firmed up to Rs.151.50 (151.00) per kg according to traders. The grade was quoted unchanged at Rs.151.00 and Rs.148.00 per kg respectively by the Rubber Board and dealers. The volumes were dull.
RSS 4 improved at its December futures to Rs.153.00 (151.88), January to Rs.154.85 (153.92) and February to Rs.157.50 (156.44) per kg while the March and April futures remained inactive on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).
The December futures increased to ¥ 278.0 (Rs. 164.83) from ¥ 275.3 per kg during the day session but then dropped to ¥ 273.2 (Rs. 161.99) per kg in the night session on Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
The spot rubber rates per kg follow:
RSS-4: 151.50 (151.00)
RSS-5: 142.00 (142.00)
Ungraded: 138.50 (138.00)
