KUALA LUMPUR: A 20 million facility will be set up in Port Klang, under a joint venture (JV) company, to undertake research, development and production of green rubber compound and its derivatives across the Asean region.
Green Rubber Asean is a JV between Malaysian-based global developer of green technologies Green Rubber Global Ltd (Green Rubber) and ACB Rubber Pte Ltd.
The facility would see a RM20 million investment over the next 24 months, a company statement said today.
Green Rubber Asean Chief Executive Officer Ahn Soo-Jin said with an initial production capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year, the company would expand the facility on an on-going basis to meet the demands from Southeast Asia.
“This marks the beginning of facility expansion that uses Green Rubber’s Delink Technology to produce the green rubber compound,” he said in the statement.
Meanwhile, Datuk Vinod Sekhar, founder and chairman of Green Rubber Global Group, said in the statement that Malaysia was chosen to establish the first major production facility as the Delink technology was the lifetime work of his late father Tan Sri Dr B. C. Sekhar.
“As Malaysia is the leader in all things rubber, we’re looking to ensure to help the country maintain its leadership in this critical market for years to come,” he said.
