A mixed trend prevailed in spot rubber on Tuesday. RSS 5 and ISNR 20 improved on better demand as the non tyre sector was visibly active in the market while RSS 4 finished flat in the absence genuine and quantity buyers. ‘’A weak closing in domestic futures dampened the sentiments during late trading hours and market failed to move up according to our expectations on buyer resistance’’, traders said.
Sheet rubber closed steady at Rs.153.50 per kg according to traders. The grade was quoted unchanged at Rs.153.00 and Rs.150.00 per kg respectively by the Rubber Board and dealers.
The January contracts declined to Rs.157.50 (158.54), February to Rs.159.80 (161.01) and March to Rs.161.51 (163.76) per kg while the April and May contracts remained inactive on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).
RSS 3 (spot) dropped to Rs. 162.12 (162.44) per kg at Bangkok. The December futures firmed up to ¥ 282.3 (Rs. 169.79) from ¥ 281.5 per kg during the day session but then slipped to ¥ 280.5 (Rs.168.69) per kg in the night session on Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
The physical rubber rates per kg were:
RSS-4: 153.50 (153.50)
RSS-5: 145.50 (145.00)
Ungraded: 142.00 (142.00)
ISNR 20: 146.50 (144.50)
and
Latex 60%: 109.00 (109.00)
