KOCHI: Rubber Board in partnership with various stakeholder associations in rubber and related sectors in the country is organising the India Rubber Meet 2014 (IRM 2014) in Kochi on February 20 and 21, 2014. The event being held at a time when the rubber industry is looking forward to confirming its status as a sunrise sector is expected to guide the industry as to how the entire value chain of Indian rubber sector including planter, dealers, raw material suppliers, importers, manufacturers, exporters, machinery sector etc and the government will play a role in creating a vision and goal for the Indian rubber industry.
It will be the launch edition of IRM, which will be held annually from 2014. The meet will be inaugurated by Vikram Kirloskar, president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. With a theme, “Indian Rubber: New Horizons”, IRM 2014 has invited talks by internationally renowned speakers on topics such as e conomic outlook, technology and innovation, regulations andlegislations, sustainability and market/rubber industry outlook .
IRM 2014 is targeted to attract around 600 delegates from India and abroad. IRM will bring the rubber fraternity of the country under a single umbrella to take stock of emerging trends in raw material production and processing, trading, end product manufacturing and export, according to a Rubber Board press release.
The panelists for the discussion on ‘present and near-term global scenario of NR producing countries’ will represent Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, China and Sri Lanka. Those for the discussion on ‘Indian rubber scenario: stakeholders’ perspective’ will represent different sectors of rubber Industry like rubber growers, processors, traders, tyre and non-tyre product manufacturers, synthetic and reclaimed rubber producers and developmental bodies that support the industry.
