Spot rubber finished firm on Thursday. According to observers, the prices improved mainly on supply concerns as there were no genuine sellers in the market even at higher levels. The transactions were in a low key.
Sheet rubber improved to Rs. 148.00 (147.00) per kg according to traders. The grade was quoted steady at Rs. 147.00 and Rs. 144.00 per kg respectively by the Rubber Board and dealers.
In futures, the February contracts closed at Rs. 147.75 (147.94), March at Rs. 150.70 (150.97), April at Rs.155.62 (155.68), May at Rs. 158.50 (158.06) and June at Rs. 159.55 (159.63) per kg on National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).
RSS 3 (spot) dropped to Rs. 133.73 (133.83) per kg at Bangkok. The February futures weakened to ¥ 220.5 (Rs. 134.89) from ¥ 221.1 per kg during the day session and then to ¥ 219.0 (Rs.133.97) per kg in the night session on Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM).
