The first edition of the two-day Indian Rubber Meet will start here today.
The theme of the event, which is proposed to be held annunally, is ‘Indian Rubber: New Horizons’, which intends to pave way for an expansive survey on new frontiers of the Indian Rubber industry, Rubber Board Chairperson Sheela Thomas told reporters here yesterday.
The meet will be opened by Vikram Shreekant Kirloskar, President of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Vice chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Prvate Ltd.
The Meet will see talks and panel discussion covering global economic outlook, rubber industry outlook, global Natural Rubber scenario, Chinese rubber industry, Indian rubber scenario, synthetic rubber developments, automobile industry and tyre legislation.
Speakers are internatiional known experts in the respective fields and represent major industry bodies and key enterprises, Thomas said.
Among the speakers are Sunny Varghese, Group Managing Director and CEO Olam International, Singapore, Dr Stephen Evans, Secretary General International Rubber Study Group, Singapore, Sunny Song, Director China Rubber Industry Association, Beijing, Fazilet Cinaralp, Secretary General European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers Association.
The panelists for the discussion on ‘Present and near term global scenario of NR producing countries’ will represent Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, China and Sri Lanka.
The discussion on ‘Indian Rubber Scenario: Stakeholders perspective’ will see different sectors of rubber industry like rubber growers, processors, traders, tyre and non tyre product manfuacturers, synthetic and reclaimed rubber producers and developmental bodies that support the industry participating.
