NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat rose today in Kota, Rajasthan. Prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were unavailable as the market was shut due to the closing of the financial year. On the other hand, price of maize remained stable in Purnea, traders said.
* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT rose today in Kota, Rajasthan, as demand from millers started picking up in the spot markets, said Chander Khandelwal, a local trader.
* Arrivals were pegged at 35,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 18,000 from the previous trading day.
* However, buyers are still concerned about the extension of the government’s free food grain plan, which might reduce the demand for wheat, causing prices to decline in the coming days, traders said.
* The prices of mill-quality wheat in Indore were unavailable because key wholesale markets are shut for a few days due to the closing of the financial year, traders said. The market will resume trade from Monday.
* Prices of MAIZE remained flat in Purnea, Bihar, today due to steady demand and arrivals, said local trader Kanhaiya Rastogi.
* In Bihar, the fresh crop is currently being sold at 2,250-2,350 rupees per 100 kg and the old crop at 2,450 rupees. Arrivals of the new crop were pegged at 600 bags, unchanged from the previous day, traders said.
* Prices of maize in Davanagere, Karnataka, were unavailable because key wholesale markets are shut on account of Amavasya, traders said. The market will resume trading on Monday.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
