Japan’s ethylene production in February fell 11% from January to 572,800 mt but rose 9% year on year, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Friday.
Japan’s exports of ethylene and ethylene derivatives in January had increased 5.8% from December to 229,000 ethylene equivalent tons, or EET. The January exports were up 23.6% year on year, according to the data.
Ethylene exports alone totaled 78,173 mt in January, down 10.7% from December, but up 49.2% from January 2013. There were no ethylene imports in January.
Data on February exports and imports have not been released yet.
Japan’s imports of ethylene and ethylene derivatives in January rose 13.1% from a month earlier to 58,900 EET, METI said. Compared with a year earlier, January’s imports were down 1.8%.
