–RBI: Gilt, FX, call mkt trade hours to be 0900-1530 IST from Apr 18
MUMBAI – The Reserve Bank of India has decided to restore the opening time for financial markets regulated by it to the pre-pandemic timing of 0900 IST, effective from Apr 18, the central bank said in a release today.
However, there will be no change in their current closing time of 1530 IST.
Before the outbreak of COVID-19, financial markets regulated by the RBI were open from 0900 IST to 1700 IST.
In the wake of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, the RBI had initially decided to revise trading hours for various markets to 1000-1400 IST from Apr 7-Nov 9, 2020. Going forward, the RBI again revised trading hours for money markets, gilts, and forex markets regulated by it to 1000 IST to 1530 IST from Nov 9, 2020.
“With the substantial easing of restrictions on movement of people and functioning of offices, it has now been decided to restore the opening time for regulated financial markets to their pre-pandemic timing,” the release said.
Accordingly, the trading hours for the markets regulated by the RBI are as under:
