KUALA LUMPUR (April 09): Malaysian rubber prices closed lower today, on a stronger ringgit against the US dollar, a dealer said.
He said, the easier local market was also in tandem with the downtrend on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, due to the strong yen, which offset support for the soft commodity.
At noon, the Malaysian Rubber Board’s official physical price for tyre-grade SMR20 fell 2.5 sen to 594.5 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk was a sen lower at 493 sen a kg.
The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR20 eased 8.5 sen to 588.5 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk fell 3.5 sen to 490 sen a kg.
