NEW DELHI – Wheat prices rose slightly in Kota, Rajasthan, today due to improved demand from millers, while prices of maize fell in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka, market participants said.
* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT rose marginally in Kota, Rajasthan, due to a pick-up in demand from millers, said local trader Chander Khandelwal.
* Arrivals were pegged at 12,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), unchanged from Friday.
* In Indore and Kota, trade resumed today after three days. The market was closed on Monday on account of Amavasya, traders said.
* Prices of mill-quality wheat in Indore were steady, as demand and supply were largely unchanged from the previous day. Arrivals remained steady at 12,000 bags, said local trader N.K. Agarwal.
* Prices of MAIZE were steady today in Purnea, Bihar, local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.
* Arrivals were pegged at 150,000 (1 bag = 65 kg) compared with 105,000 bags on Monday.
* Prices have fallen significantly over the last few days, as most of the crops have been damaged due to heavy rains in Bihar, traders said.
* Prices of maize in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka, fell today taking cues from the fall in prices in Purnea market on Monday, local trader Shiva Kumar said.
* In Davanagere, arrivals were pegged at 1,000 bags unchanged from Monday.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
