BANGKOK, June 17 (Bernama) — Thailand’s military junta has approved a multi-billion baht subsidy for rubber farmers and victims of natural disasters.
Numchai Prommeechai, deputy director general of the Department of Agriculture, said the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) approved 6.6 billion baht in subsidies for 100,000 rubber farmers.
Speaking at a press conference, Numchai said the council also approved 5.4 billion baht in compensation for 580,000 people who have suffered from natural disasters since 2012.
Meanwhile, NCPO spokesman Colonel Wintai Suwaree said the council approved 322 million baht for the Education Ministry.
It has also given 127 million baht to the National Office of Buddhism in Chiangrai province in northern Thailand which was damaged after being hit by an earthquake last month.
