NEW DELHI – Barring Delhi, ex-mill prices of sugar were flat in all the key wholesale markets of India today because there were no fresh triggers, said Naresh Gupta, a trader in Delhi.
* “Mills in western Uttar Pradesh have raised prices to show that they are under no pressure to sell,” Gupta said. “And due to the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, there is no movement of sugar for mills around Haryana.”
* Following are the highlights of sugar trade in domestic markets:
(Changes in price per 100 kg)
–Flat at 3,430-3,460 rupees in Muzaffarnagar
–Up 8-10 rupees at 3,450-3,535 rupees in Delhi
–Flat at 3,330-3,375 rupees in Kolhapur
–Flat at 3,490-3,562 rupees in Mumbai
* On the Intercontinental Exchange, the most-active October contract of raw sugar was up 0.3% at 18.90 cents per pound because of strong demand from overseas buyers.
* The export line-up of top sugar producer Brazil for July stands at 3 mln tn. End
