NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat fell today in Kota, Rajasthan, due to increase in arrivals amid steady demand from millers, and those of maize also edged lower in Purnea, a major market in Bihar, said market participants.
* In Kota prices of mill-quality WHEAT fell due to an increase in arrivals amid steady demand, local trader Aniket Mehta said.
* Supply increase as farmers are offloading their stocks due to high prices.
* Arrivals were pegged at 15,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 4,000 bags from Thursday.
* Prices of mill-quality wheat were flat in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Arrivals were estimated at 8,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day, local trader NK Agarwal said.
* Prices of MAIZE fell slightly in Purnea due to an increase in supply amid steady demand from poultry feed manufacturers, local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.
* Arrivals in Purnea were pegged at 30,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), up 7,500 bags from Thursday.
* Prices of maize in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka, were unchanged.
* Arrivals were estimated at 1,000 bags, unchanged from the previous day, local trader Shiva Kumar said.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
